INNER SOUL ( 3rd grade)
Anything you do, you get in return.
Be nice, and you will be thanked.
Be mean….you wont be happy.
Look through that person’s eyes, and think before you say anything.
When someone is mean to you…. think before you say a word.
Nothing is more powerful than your soul,
It makes your decisions.
Know your own strength, be warned with the power within you. by, Ciannon Basher
ODE TO MY HAIRBAND ( 4th grade)
O, thou helpful hairband
without thee my hair would be unruly.
I thank thee for being around me every day.
Thou keeps my hair from dreaded knot!
Thou has many different shapes
and patterns, all so beautiful.
Thou keeps me from sweating all over.
Thou stays on my wrist comfortably,
but without slipping off.
Sometimes, thou serves as a bracelet,
Other times as a hair holder.
When sleeping, thou keeps hair off my face
and as I woke up
it feels good to know
that I wont have a knot.
Though I have many hairbands
I fear one day thou might be lost!

I AM THE STARS
I am the stars
Fierce but very quiet.
There are a million of me,
I am fire but I come.
I give peace to the world.
I give night light to all the baby creatures in the world.
I lead ships that are stuck in the land.
I might not talk but i light everything on earth to safety.
Bad guys may not be nice
but everybody has good inside of them.
So light up the good in them.

THE MOM IN MY LIFE
Mom, you are everything to me
I would not be anything without you
Thank you for being my mom
You are a kitten and a heart
Thank you for being you
I love you
You are my life
You are like a beautiful flower
I love you
You are also like a flying bee
You carry pollen with you
and bring it to me in the honeycomb
See how much i love you
I love you all the way to Sedna and back
You are the best mom everyday of my life
Love, Ciannon ( young elementary school)
written in 1st grade 2005.
The lights’ glowing warmth
is so close to my heart
I love the feeling
when I feel the warmth
It makes me feel good
and I love it inside my heart
The glowing lights at night are so nice

I miss you Ciannon, I’m sorry I never said it before.
Thanks Sam, so sweet for writing now. She loved you! 🙂 hope you are well-Kim
I used to live beside the river Shannon in Ireland. It is a remarkable river being the longest in this part of Europe. It flows for 240 miles and only falls 60 feet which makes it a slow river. However, it is because of this which makes the river Shannon the biggest attraction for hundreds of thousands of users each year, feeding lakes and rivers that touches and nourishes the island of Ireland.
Ciannon likewise in her poetry is able to impart something very special as her mind through her poetry meanders into her art of living and loving. I didn’t know her but her life although little, flows and flows to the many she touched, both in life and beyond. May she be blessed in her heavenly reward.
I don’t know how I came across this, but I am glad I did. Ciannon seemed like such a wonderful, creative and talented person. It is very hard for people like her to remain in the world. They feel….. everything. They are extremely sensitive and have so much love inside of them…. It is very hard for them to remain earthbound.
Ciannon is in a better place. She is free to feel and free to love…..Bless this little angel.
an old soul, the world isn’t good enough for her. how strong she was! beautiful!
Ciannon did always love to write poetry…I saw a few of hers. She might’ve been silent and secluded, but she shone so bright that everyone could see her. She was a great person, and friend at that. I hope she is happy.
That was beautiful.
I loved the poems! Inner soul shows her depth of character. Ode to my Headband shows her creative thinking. The Mom in My Life shows her deep love. I think I Am The Stars shows both her depth of character and creativity. The world is a better place because Ciannon has been in it. Thanks for sharing!
I love the lines about the bee.
Amazing. The words she used at that age. The thoughts she had. I’m particularly struck by “Inner Soul”.
Thank you for sharing.
Many years ago maybe 2000 or 2001 I was new to taking my cats to VSH. I remember the lovely people that helped me commenting on Ciannon. She came in with her DAD. They said she was so adorable with lovely red curly hair. She looked like her dad but had her Mom’s red hair. Then I remember seeing the Porsche with the car seat. I thought how CUTE. A very endearing memory! Then I met her wonderful mother who became our most wonderful home vet. Her mother loved Ciannon with all her heart. Love over flowed when speaking of Ciannon. The sadness overcomes one when thinking of the family and the loss of Ciannon Basher. With care love, prayers, peace, and comfort to Ciannon’s family Jackie
